Mistake 1: The higher the lumen of the car lights, the better.

The headlight lumen should be within a certain range, too dark and too bright will affect the driving vision. The gap between the lumen value of LED headlights on the market is large because some sellers on the market will falsely label the lumen value or theoretical lumen value of the lights instead of the actual lumen value. Generally, the headlight lumen value above 4000 is sufficient for daily needs. If the lumen is too high, it might blind the passengers and other drivers. In addition, too high a color temperature will result in less light penetration, which is not conducive to driving in foggy or snowy weather.

Mistake 2: LED headlights are not much different?

The quality between a good and a bad LED car light differs in light type, life, heat dissipation structure, and materials used. Although it’s hard to tell the difference by the look, the actual use and lifespan difference are very large, you’ll always get what you paid for. Mistake 3: Must all the LED headlights equip with the lens?

This depends on the structure of the original lamp. Under normal circumstances, the high-beam headlights are not equipped with lenses. Mistake 4: Do LED car headlights need ballasts?

The ballast is an indispensable accessory part of HID. The main function is to instantly raise the original 12V voltage to a high voltage of 23000V. Using this high-intensity voltage to activate the HID bulb produces strong light between the two poles so that the bulb reaches high-brightness illumination. The way how the xenon and LED car headlamp work is different, so there is no need for ballast.

Mistake 5: LED car headlamps do not need to be decoded?

Although the LED is started at a low current, it does not interfere with most cars, so it is usually not necessary to install it. However, for some car systems with detection power, the driving computer system will detect anomalies after installing the LED headlamps. At this time, a decoder needs to be installed.

Mistake 6: The higher the LED headlight power, the better？

The greater the power of LED lights, the more current will be consumed and more heat will be generated accordingly. Increasing the headlight power can improve the brightness, but in fact not only it can not solve the problem of LED heat dissipation, but also shorten the service life of the car lights. In severe cases, overheated lights can also pose a threat to the safety of the vehicle’s circuit system.

Mistake 7: Headlight with fan is better than without having fan ?

Both of these models help the heat dissipation of the headlights, but the heat dissipation effect of the LED headlights needs to be integrated into different aspects, rather than drawing conclusions based on a single component. Different components can’t be based on the analogy of heat dissipation alone but should consider the overall heat dissipation, installation volume, and assembly space. Of course, a headlight without a fan using thermal grease to dissipate heat is a better choice. After all, the lifespan of the fan on the headlight is limited.

Mistake 8: Headlight with a Cree LED chip is better than Osram?

There is no doubt that the quality of LED chips made by well-known manufacturers is usually better than ordinary ones. However, the use of headlight LED chips requires a comprehensive light type, heat dissipation, brightness, power and other factors. It’s hard to draw a conclusion by just looking at a single metric.

Mistake 9: LED lights need chuck installation?

For the LED car lamp replaced by the original car halogen lamp, the model corresponds to the original car halogen lamp, and the chuck is matched with the lamp type. There are also a small number of chucks for special vehicles. However, professional auto repair shops have corresponding chucks, which can adjust the light type. There are also a few chucks to solve most of the special problems of special vehicles, and there is no worry about installation.

Mistake 10: Can all LED headlights replace the original headlights?
